WWBA presents the 10th season of Poetry in Performance: Walking With Whitman, hosted by Writer-in-Residence, George Wallace. The signature series continues to bring to bring the most intriguing figures in contemporary literature on the national scene paired with local poets to the Walt Whitman Birthplace Stage.

Art & Poetry of the American Frontexto
Octavio Quintanilla is the 2018-2020 Poet Laureate of San Antonio, TX. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Texas, is the regional editor for Texas Books in Review, and teaches Literature and Creative Writing in the M.A./M.F.A. program at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. Quintanilla began his Frontexto project, (the term frontexto is a blend of frontera and texto, border/text) on New Year’s Day of 2018, writing a poem in Spanish every day, usually accompanied by an image on a Moleskin.
Reading with Octavio will be Suffolk County Wayne Mennecke, poet, science teacher, and 2017 recipient of the New York State Senator Phil Boyle “Teacher of Excellence Award” for his efforts teaching Anatomy & Physiology and AP Biology
