*SYJCC Jewish Lunch and Learn Lecture Series Presents “Informed Consent And Judaism: Navigating Complex Medical Decisions”
June 7 @ 10:30 am - 2:00 pm| 20$ – 25$
Where is the principle of autonomy and its manifestation as informed consent situated in the Jewish tradition?
How do we navigate complex medical decision making within the Jewish framework and how can we use Jewish text to guide our health care decisions? These are just some of the questions explored in this lecture on “Informed Consent And Judaism” presented by Rabbi Lila Kagedon, a Canadian-born Jewish woman who in 2016 became the first female clergy member hired by an Orthodox synagogue while using the title “Rabbi.” This occurred when Mount Freedom Jewish Center in New Jersey, which is Open Orthodox, hired Kagedon to join their “spiritual leadership team.” Must register by May 31 to include both lunch and light refreshments.
